Abstract
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is finding increased application in guiding interventional procedures, particularly percutaneous needle- and catheter-based interventions, due to its high soft-tissue contrast and multi-planar capabilities. Currently, there are two major approaches for monitoring device position in vivo using MRI, namely active and passive tracking. Our approach is based on the latter and we working on methods to detect the needle from real-time MR images with the goal to automatically realign the slices.
