Improve patient care in the field of MRI-guided thermal procedures

Project

Project outline

The project is run in close collaboration with Siemens' Center for Applied Medical Imaging (CAMI) at the Johns Hopkins Institutions Baltimore (MD), USA.

The general goal is to develop image processing methods to improve patient care in the field of of MRI-guided thermal ablations. For that, we are working on a fully MR guided workflow combing dedicated MRI pulse sequences and visualization/ analysis tools for:

  • Trajectory planning

  • Automatic slice positioning for image-guided needle placement (passive approach)

  • Advanced MR thermal mapping
Project goal

Improve the efficacy and efficiency of thermal interventions:

  • Safe and efficient needle positioning

Passive needle tracking under real-time MRI guidance

  • MR thermometry
