Elli Angelopoulou Ph.D., Akad. RatAlumnus of the Pattern Recognition Lab of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-NürnbergVision Elli Angelopoulou's Biographical SketchDr. Elli Angelopoulou received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins University in 1997. She did her postdoc at the GRASP (General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception) Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. She has over 70 publications, multiple patents and has received numerous grants, including an NSF CAREER award. Her research is focused on computational color analysis, multispectral imaging, image forensics, intra-operative guidance, capsule endoscopy, skin reflectance, reflectance analysis of natural scenes and 3D reconstruction. Some more specific topics she has worked on include robust skin detection, the design of multispectral sensors which are resistant to lighting changes and shape reconstruction with minimal prior knowledge. Angelopoulou has served on the program committees of ICCV, CVPR and ECCV and is an associate editor of Machine Vision and Applications (MVA) and the Journal of Intelligent Service Robotics (JISR). She is a member of the Optical Society of America and the IEEE Computer Society and its Technical Committee on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
