Dipl. Med.-Inf. Jochen PenneAlumnus of the Pattern Recognition Lab of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-NürnbergTaking Time-of-Flight cameras to the operation room. Research proposal Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras provide 3D information of the current field of view. Based on an active illumination of the scene with an optical amplitude-modulated reference signal the distance of the observed points is computed by estimating the phase delay between the emitted and reflected reference signal. This measurement principle is real-time capable and markerless. Jochen investigates how ToF cameras can be used in an operation room. Various application fields are investigated: respiratory motion detection, patient positioning, ToF-based 3D endoscopy, 3D gesture control and general ToF data preprocessing algorithms. |
