Bernd Stetter M. Sc.

Alumnus of the Pattern Recognition Lab of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

Research interests
  • My main interests lie in the application of wearable sensor systems for the assessment of human movement and performance in the natural environment. The aim is to provide real time biofeedback to athletes and coaches, and to implement practical monitoring solutions for sports and healthcare purposes. Thereby, an emphasis is placed on the application of state-of-the-art methods in signal processing, data mining and pattern recognition in order to extract pertinent information from multisensory data.

Data mining for digital training in sports
  • Wearable sensor technology and training apps running on a smartphone has become an increasingly popular method for planning, controlling and elevating the training process of athletes. However, little is known about the effectiveness of existing training plans as well as the interests, habits and needs of the users.

Therefore, this project aims to gain insights into the actual behavior of the user and to achieve better understanding for the design of training plans by analyzing an existing database with modern data mining tools.
