Computer Vision

The aim of my research is the analysis of the interaction of light with human skin from computer vision's perspective. The objective is the adaptation of state-of-the-art skin reflectance models to better suit computer vision related applications. Therein, two major parts have to be addressed: physics-based skin detection and improved illumination estimation.

Research interests:

  • Analysis of skin reflectance
  • Physics-based skin reflectance modelling
  • Illumination-invariant skin segmentation
  • Illuminant color estimation
  • Multispectral imaging

My research is funded by the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) for the Physics of Light and the Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies (SAOT) by the German National Science Foundation (DFG) in the framework of the excellence initiative.
