Attila Budai M. Sc.Alumnus of the Pattern Recognition Lab of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-NürnbergMy vision is to develop a fast and robust algorithm to detect glaucoma and other diseases on eye fundus images Localization of Optic DiskThe aim of this project is to localize the optic disk (optic nerve head) in fundus images. For this, multiple algorithms were developed and compared. One of the most promising solutions is using a circle detection method called Fast Radial Symmetry Transform (FRST). This method can be easily generalized to detect ellipses, it can differentiate bright and dark objects, and the computational needs are lower compared to the Hough transform. The basic FRST method can estimate the location of the optic disk with a high accuracy, but it is not able to estimate its radius. In this project we developed modifications to this method to improve the accuracy and enable the estimation of the optic disk diameter. |
