Research Areas

Non-destructive Testing

My research focuses on non-destructive testing of materials and goods. This includes for example the development of 3-D reconstruction, image/volume processing and segmentation algorithms. My recent focus lies on the digitization of historical documents. I mainly work with X-ray CT, however, I am also interested in other technologies such as Terahertz or Ultrasound.

Medical Imaging

After working for 10 years in the area of medical engineering, I am still highly interested in this field of research. My Bachelor and Master Theses were in collaboration with Siemens Healthcare with topics about increasing the quality of 3-D Scans. One of my current project is in cooperation with the University of Jena where we try to segment fat and fascia out of ultrasound images of canines.
